Sharing with the World through Writing

ORIGINAL POST: June 20, 2009

Writing was one of my first tools to learn about my true self. In high school, I would write journals and journals of communication between myself and soul. “Myself” being the unawakened part of me, “Soul” being the life force that is shapeless, formless, bodiless, and eternal. Through writing, I was able to learn a new perspective on life and gain spiritual insight that was unknown to me at the time. It was through writing I gained trust, vision, and faith in the spiritual path.

When writing, I would pose questions to my soul, sit quietly and relaxed, and would let my soul guide my writing. I was usually in a trance state of being, and upon completion, a page or two full of spiritual insight was right infront of me. The page or two of insight would be perfect answers at the time. They always made me feel better, at peace, and answered my questions posed.

On a side note, the soul communicates through the ideology (mind) because it has no instrument to “speak.” Therefore, if a person strongly believes in Jesus, it might be “Jesus” they feel is speaking or writing. However, it is the soul that directly communicates.

Once I met Acharya Shree in 2004, I was determined to record many of our conversations, to review over and over again his guidance to me, and listen to or reread my notes to anything I missed. During my deployment to Iraq in 2004-2005, I continued my writing – writing both the spiritual journey and the journey as an Army Medic – to always remind myself of what I went through, the life lessons I learned, and the nature of people (not always good).

Upon returning from my deployment, finally setting into my own routine of spiritual sadhana and discipline and growing deeper and deeper into myself, I found it harder and harder to write. I still find it hard to write. The difficulties in writing come from the reality that “Truth cannot be Told,” there can only be attempts to describe it. After a few years of experiencing deep meditation, I find that all writings are inadequate to reveal the experience, wisdom, and realization of any soul. So, I have not written much lately. Those that say it is easy to write about spiritual topics and realization, and truth, be careful.

Like diving to the deepest part of the ocean, and finding lost treasures of emeralds and jewels, when you come up for air and try to describe what you saw to others (especially if they are very unfamiliar) you cannot speak, and if you attempt to, words cannot describe what you saw and experienced. Words become inadequate. You are crazy. But the hunt, the search, and the revelation was worth it.

This blog is my sincere and humble attempt to share with you what I have learned and experience. All writings, thoughts, experiences are my own.

Question for You: Does writing help you know yourself?

Sadhvi Siddhali Shree
