Raising Awareness about Animal Cruelty
As a truth seeker and spiritual aspirant, it is important to become aware of the violence that happens in our world and personal lives. The first step of the spiritual path is practicing non-violence, which includes non-violence towards animals. Without knowing that 45 millions turkeys are killed for Thanksgiving alone, (and yes, they have souls) you may not practice awareness this Thanksgiving. I understand and know that there are many non-vegetarians wishing to be spiritual, but its important to remember that the highest states of peace and consciousness, that you so desire, cannot be achieved if you are still eating meat. If you are unable to switch to the vegetarian lifestyle today, at least refrain from eating turkey on Thanksgiving day. Can you imagine if all Americans gave up turkey on this day, just for ONE day in a year, 45 millions souls will be saved from a tragic and cruel death.
